COLLE VAL D’ELSA has a rich tradition in glass manufacturing dating back to the 1400's when artisan activity served as a cornerstone of the region's economy. The early 1800's saw the creation of the first industrial establishments that propelled Colle Val D'Elsa into becoming one of the most important crystal manufacturing regions in Europe. Essential to this evolution were initiatives in support of crystal manufacturing. These initiatives were characterized primarily by service activities noteriety and crucial importance in the crystal manufacturing sector. It was this context that in 1920 led to the opening of the first facility devoted to the manufacturing of glass moulds
